What type of vehicle do I need to pull a Tiny House Container?

Any vehicle rated to pull 10,000 pounds works:
I.e. Ford F250, GMC/Chevrolet 2500, Dodge 2500

A 15ft or 17ft U-Haul truck will pull it if you do not have an own truck available.

Enterprise Truck Rental offers a F250 (3/4ton) that is also rated to pull a Tiny House Container.

Is the Tiny House Container on a trailer permanently?

No. The Tiny House Container can be moved on and off the trailer as needed.

Can one place a Tiny House Container on the ground?

Yes, but we recommend to keep it at least 12 inches off the ground. We are more than happy to set it up for you.
Please note: Placing it directly on the ground will void the 12-month service plan.

The shipping container itself is certified, the modifications we perform are not certified.

What are the zoning requirements for tiny houses?

Zoning requirements in the USA vary from no-restrictions to prohibited. We are happy to work with you to find solutions.

How long does it take to build a Tiny House Container?

It takes 3 – 5 months to build depending on the model and modifications.  We currently have a waiting list to start a build. Please contact us to find out the timeline.

What are the electrical capabilities of a Tiny House Container?

Tiny House Container are wired similar to the electrical codes for a bedroom and a bathroom in a regular house. All circuits are AFCI protected. In addition, kitchenette and bathroom are GFCI protected.

What is the difference between a Sunrise and Sunset version?

Standing outside looking at the big container doors, the Sunrise version has the French Door on the right long side, the Sunset has them on the left long side.

Absolutely. It’s a tiny space and you certainly would want to optimize it. A Tiny House Container is built modular therefore adding, changing and removing items is very simple.

Can I modify a Tiny House Container during purchase?

Several options are available before construction begins. During construction the modifications will be limited.

Do you require a deposit to place an order?

Yes. Deposit is $5000.00 and is due at the signing of the purchase order agreement.

How difficult is it to setup a Tiny House Container?

No. Shipping containers can be transported in a variety of ways. However, we recommend a trailer that is specifically designed to carry a 20ft container. We have them available for purchase.

A Tiny House Container is structurally more than 7 times stronger than a wooden tiny house.

A Tiny House Container comes with an over-sized bathroom including a large corner shower and a flushing toilet.

A Tiny House Container can be placed on and off a trailer as needed.

A Tiny House Container has three doors. The bathroom has its own outside access.

A Tiny House Container can easily be inspected for mold and critters.

How do I winterize a Tiny House Container?

The water lines are designed to be drained quickly. Only common tools are required.

Do I need a roof on top of a Tiny House Container?

No. The shipping containers are completely sealed.

How can I utilize the roof space?

A Tiny House Container comes with an optional roof frame. Use it as a base for solar panels, green roof or a roof deck. We will add roof options in the near future.

Can I transport an ATV or a motorcycle inside?

Yes. You can use it as a toy hauler. There is enough space and some of the original tie down rings are available.

Can I change the outside color of a Tiny House Container?

Yes. We can purchase a one-trip shipping container in a different color, if available. However, we recommend to change trim colors instead of the container color.

Can I change the outside trim color of a Tiny House Container?

Yes. We offer outdoor packages with choice of exterior container color, shutters, porches and decks.

How do I inspect a Tiny House Container for water and critter damage?

The inside bottom trim is designed to be removed to conduct water and critter damage inspections.

The doors in an RV and camper are are always on the passenger (right) side, does that matter in a Tiny House Container?

No. During the order process we will discuss your setup at your property and recommend either the Sunrise or Sunset version.

Can one put a Tiny House Container on a permanent foundation?

Yes, absolutely.

Is a Tiny House Container hurricane and tornado proof?

The shipping container itself is designed for severe storms. Doors, Windows, and other openings might leak under extreme conditions. We are happy to do an inspection. Inspections are included in the 12-month service plan.

How strong are shipping containers?

Extremely strong: A 20ft shipping container can hold around 60,000 pounds of cargo. On a container ship they are typically stacked 6 -7 high.

Do you need a special permit to transport a Tiny House Container?

No special permits are required. No professional movers needed.

What if I won’t be able to use my Tiny House Container for several months?

No problem, open up, air out for 5 minutes, ready to use.

What about animals, critters, bugs getting into a Tiny House Container?

There are very limited opportunities for critters to crawl in. A Tiny House Container allows for an easy inspection. Inspections are included in the 12-month warranty and service plan.

Can I leave a Tiny House Container on the trailer?

Yes.

What about moisture inside?

In any small space moisture is an issue. We incorporated several features in the Tiny House Container to combat moisture issues.

The shipping container appears to have some rusty scratches and minor dents, could that be a potential problem?

No. Inevitably there will be some surface rust which can be contained easily. However, all Tiny House Containers are build out of one-trip containers and are structurally sound. We also inspect all containers before we purchase them.

Is it difficult to clean a Tiny House Container?

No.
Dry:
Open all doors, take a broom and sweep for 2 minutes.
Wet:
Mop floor for 5 minutes. Leave all doors up to air out.

What is the roof frame on top of the container used for?

Use it as foundation for solar panels, a green roof or a roof deck. In addition it serves as the foundation of a modular porch and atrium when you want covered outside space.

Can I connect a Tiny House Container to an existing septic tank?

Yes, we are happy to hook it up during the initial setup.

How do I connect a Tiny Hose Container to a water line?

Connect a regular garden hose and a splitter to the hook ups.

What kind of electrical cord do I need to connect a Tiny House Container to an existing house?

A Tiny House Container comes with both, a 50AMP extension cord to hook up to an outdoor junction box, and a 15AMP extension cord to hook up to a regular electrical outlet that you typically find on the outside wall of a house.

Do you have models with smaller bathrooms available?

No. All Bathrooms come in one size.

Do you offer any built in cabinets?

Not at the moment. We recommend regular cabinets, chest drawers to optimize your space.
A good place to start is of course IKEA.
A Tiny House Container has built in provisions to secure freestanding equipment during use and also during transportation.

What size A/C do I need?

Our standard option for an air conditioner is a window unit with 8000BTU. Depending on your location you might need a smaller or larger air conditioner.

Does it matter how I setup a Tiny House Container at my location?

Yes. We will make some recommendations during the order process.

I am planning to relocate my tiny house every three months, would a Tiny House Container be suitable?

Yes, that works well if you leave the Tiny House Container on a trailer.

How do the costs for a Tiny House Container compare with a wooden tiny house?

We recommend to compare both types of structures by looking at them in person, and comparing the included equipment.
